This château built by a prominent Provençal family in the 18th century is like something from a fairytale. Large wood-panelled rooms and lounges, a sweeping terrace with views across the estate, copses where you half expect to bump into Sleeping Beauty. All ready and waiting for you since the property was fully renovated in 2019.
The promise of an enchanting stay is fulfilled the moment you clap eyes on the front gates that open to a driveway winding through the woods to the principal courtyard and your first view of the rear of the château, in the north. Skip up the steps to enter the vast lobby, bathed in sunlight flooding through the windows fronting the south-facing terrace.
Guests have four lounges to choose from, so can find their favourite spot whether it’s to have breakfast, enjoy a cosy chat by the fireplace, or take time out to curl up with a book while admiring views of the lush forest through the windows.
Seven bedrooms and suites in the neoclassical style feature the high ceilings and original décor of the Belle Époque period, while their hexagonal floor tiles, wood panelling and old limestone walls remind you that you are in the heart of Provence.
A loft and two outbuildings extend the accommodation options.
The loft, which comes with a generous terrace overlooking the principal courtyard, offers the cachet of an 18th century château with the comfort you’d expect from a renovated apartment including fully equipped kitchen, two double rooms with en suites and a large living room with a fireplace. This self-contained apartment measuring 55m² can be hired on a nightly or weekly basis.
This château used to belong to the prominent provençal Isnard family.
For a romantic stay…
… pick the Pavillon du Couchant and enjoy a glass of champagne on its terrace with a view! (special package)
The outbuildings, former housekeeper’s properties and then hunting lodges, are in the more secluded parts of the grounds. They have been renovated in keeping with their Provençal heritage with a modern twist. The Pavillon du Levant has two double bedrooms with a shared bathroom and a living room with a fireplace over an area of 40m². The Pavillon du Couchant is a one-bedroom apartment with bathroom and living room with a fireplace. From its private terrace guests can watch the sunset, perfect for a romantic getaway.
Note that for both outbuildings there is no WiFi connection or kitchen. Guests can borrow the château’s golf cart to access the properties.
Other amenities at the château include a pool, a gym and massage room housed in an orangery, and 35 hectares of woodland where beautiful bridle paths make the perfect setting for wedding photos.
Today the château is owned by the Deltin family, who also run two wine estates in the Rhone Valley: Château Malijay in Jonquières, and Domaine Palon in Gigondas.
Restaurant: scheduled for completion in 2021.
