Acquired in 2024 by the Sofra Group, the Golden Tulip Paradou hotel, south of Avignon, has since had 42 rooms and its communal areas refurbished. The rest will follow this winter.
A historic hotel in Avignon
Built in the late 1980s in the south of the city, near the airport and the Avignon Exhibition Centre, the Paradou**** – which was long affiliated with the Best Western chain – was a fine hotel until the 2010s.
Starting with 42 rooms, and eventually expanding to 98 comfortable rooms set around the swimming pool and landscaped gardens, a restaurant with a terrace, two meeting rooms… the facilities had grown and improved over the years.
Following a change of ownership in the 2010s and with no new investment to modernise it, the hotel had fallen into disrepair until it was acquired in 2024 by the Sofra Group, which owns numerous hotels in France and also manages major cultural sites such as the prehistorical Chauvet Cave in Ardèche and Cosquer Cave in Marseille.
A newly refurbished interior and facilities
As soon as it was acquired, the establishment underwent a major refurbishment, starting with the communal areas: the lobby, the bar, the kitchen and the dining room of the restaurant ‘Le Magnolia’ were completely refurbished. Light-coloured furniture with organic shapes, soft lighting and the warm tones of light wood have been used to enhance the beautiful interior spaces.
The guest rooms are no exception: 42 of the older rooms have been redecorated in the same warm colours. The remaining 56 will follow in the winter of 2026–27.
These efforts have just been rightly rewarded with the award of a fourth star.
